Symptom

When you click 'Verify the Database' on a report created in Crystal Reports version 8.5 that contains a subreport based on a stored procedure with parameters, the following error message appears:

'Prompting failed with the following error message: Error source : Error code 0x8000FFFF'.

The Same error message may also be displayed when viewing the report on demand with Crystal Reports Server XI R2 or Business Objects Enterprise XI R2.

The cause of the problem is that when a stored procedure with parameters is used in a subreport, the prompts are identified, but the prompt information fails to be collected and passed to the prompting engine.

I do have Visual Studio 2003 .Net installed, along with three of the Visual Studio Express products. It does happen to be a dual monitor rig, but it doesn&#39;t matter which monitor the application is displayed on, the results are the same.<br /> </p> <p>I&#39;ve tried repairing my Crystal Reports XI install. I&#39;ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I&#39;ve tried applying boxiwin_sp4. Same result no matter what. I&#39;ve searched using Google and as many of the different search features and forums that Business Objects has. What I&#39;ve seen disappoints me - a thread that laments the inability to use dual monitors with this product, a thread that indicates that the product cannot be used on a docked Tablet PC, and a lot of threads that recommend not doing certain basic things (like dragging and dropping fields).</p> <p>Is there a solution to this problem somewhere? Any guidance is appreciated.</p> <p>Christopher</p>

I have encountered the same problem (twice).
Actaully maybe not exactly the same problem based on your outline. I can not add any field to a report with out the system crashing and extiting.
The first time I had to uninstall, reinstall and apply service packs. I do not want to have to do this every other month.
I am running Windows XP SP2 - 32 bit. I knew that others have had to have the same problem, but I have not found a resolution (yet).

Similar Messages

  • approximately every 1 and 1/2 to two months I have to uninstall Crystal Reports XI and re-load release 2. The program works fine then starts acting funny (cursor will not change when making text box longer/shorter, Can only make sections larger/shorter by putting the cursor over to the far left side of the report, etc) When this starts happening, within one day I receive the error
'crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience'
I was able to see a thread in the Business Objects forum indicating there was a service pack to fix the problem. Each time I search for service packs to install nothing comes up. Does anyone know what this service pack is and where I might be able to find it.
    Thanks Much

  • When I try to use a crystal report version 10.0 to querry from two data source at same time, I got following error:
Crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience .
I have a 8.5 version crystal report and it works just fine.
    The two data source are:
MS access2003 DB and Sage Mas90 DB.
I have tried on server 2003 and window XP. none of them works.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Jonathan

Reporting off 2 datasources should work in CR10.
    I would suggest the following;
    1) Check the version of CR10 and apply SP5 if necessary
    2) Try using different connection methods, if you are using a native connection try odbc for example
Possible workarounds woulr be to use a main report > subreport
    or
In Access create a linked table to Mas90

  • Ever since I installed HEAT 9, Crystal Reports 11 crashes periodically. I get the message 'crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.' This message usually appears after I run a report, enter my DB credentials, and enter parameters.
I also have Report Viewer installed as a part of another application called Wasp. I can open reports using the report viewer but when I close them the entire Wasp program crashes every time.
Both of these problems only happen with HEAT 9 installed. I do not have this problem with HEAT 8.4 installed.

I suggest you contact the makers of HEAT and ask them if they support your configuration. It may be they do not support multiple versions of CR installed. It may also be caused by the order you have installed the various programs. Try using the repair feature for each program in various orders to see if that resolves the problem.
    Thank you

  • I am using Crystal Reports 10 to create reports. I am selecting tables from two different SQL databases on two different servers. I have successfully used each of these tables in other reports, independently.
I link the tables with an inner join. Once I attempt to actually use a field from the second table in my report, I get this error:
crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry, etc, etc.
    Any suggestions?

Some of the users are getting the following error message while trying to open the Crystal Reports from Mobile Sales.
'This program is used to host and to initialize the UF F has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'
I think, this is a windows error.
Can you please let me know where can I find any update about these issues?
Has anyone ever come across this type of error?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Pijush

  • While editing a report in the designer for Crystal Reports 2008 (SP 3), I frequently, and annoyingly, get the 'crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close' error while moving or manipulating a guideline. This happens in new reports, old reports, whether the guideline is actually locked to an object or not, and is an issue on multiple hardware/OS configurations. My personal workstation's configuration:
    Windows XP Pro (SP3)
Crystal Reports 2008 (SP 3 - no hotfixes)
    .Net 1.1, 2.0, 3.5 are installed.
Accessing MS SQL Server 2008 database using the OLE DB (ADO) driver.
The error in the event viewer is:
Faulting application crw32.exe, version 12.3.0.601, faulting module crw32.exe, version 12.3.0.601, fault address 0x00627c2d.
My hardware config is using multiple monitors but I have the same issue on machines that only use single monitors.
DEP settings have no effect on this error.
I have not installed any CR hot fixes. We know that they break the way that .net interfaces with the CR web engine so that when you run a report that has a record selection formula that limits by a date, the record selection formula gets messed up and the report returns an error (issue for a separate posting.)
Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on or how to fix it?

Up to you.. Use what is supported or you have to deal with the crashes.
The fix in FP 3.2 is specifically for the date parameter and SQL 2008. Only issue is you have to change drivers. It's the same driver but supports SQL 2008, MS SQL Servers uses OLE DB as it's client engine. I believe CR specifically looks for the native 10 driver, MS changed the name of the dll.
You may want to search MS's site, I don't believe MS supports the MDAC or WDAC version of that client when connecting to SQL 2008.
If you must use that driver then you MUST NOT use MS SQL Server 2008.
To get the SQL Server 2008 client go to MS site and you can download the standalone Client install MSI.
Bottom line is you have to use what is supported and fixed known issues.
    Thank you
    Don

  • I have not been successful in getting Crystal Reports XI Rel 2 to work for me, except for one very simple report that accesses one table and simply prints out all fields. When I try to link tables and do something more complicated, it kicks me out with a 'crw32.exe has encountered a problems and needs to close error'.
I am running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP3 and using the CR Informix ODBC Driver 5.3 to access data from an Informix DB.

I downloaded and was able to write a report off the Access test DB. So - I went back and connected to Informix, wrote a report that connected 6 tables and now I get a syntax error (it has not kicked me out yet, though!). I get -201 error with no explanation. Here is the sql generated by CR:
    SELECT pallet.pallet_id, item.category_id, item.sub_category_id, category.description, sub_category.description, item.quantity, item.std_cost, sub_category.default_recovery_pct, carton.status, pallet.status, location.location
    FROM arc:informix.category category, arc:informix.sub_category sub_category, arc:informix.item item, arc:informix.carton carton, arc:informix.pallet pallet, OUTER arc:informix.location location
    WHERE (category.row_key=sub_category.category_key) AND ((category.category_id=item.category_id) AND (sub_category.sub_category_id=item.sub_category_id)) AND (item.carton_key=carton.row_key) AND (carton.pallet_key=pallet.row_key) AND (pallet.location_key=location.row_key) AND category.description<>'Dump' AND (carton.status='CLOS' OR carton.status='PALT') AND (pallet.status='DOCK' OR pallet.status='PUTA')
    ORDER BY pallet.pallet_id, item.category_id, item.sub_category_id, category.description, sub_category.description
I don't see a problem with it. Any other suggestions? Do you think the CR has a problem with a table called 'Item' since that is a reserved word?

  • Receive an error message u201CCRW32.EXE encountered a problem and needs to close.u201D when attempting to join two databases via ODBC. This occurs just prior to receiving the u2018Linksu2019 dialog after database selection. Accessing DB2 database using XP via ODBC.
    Error Signature:
    AppName: Crw32.Exe AppVer: 12.2.5.537 ModName: mfc80u.dll
    ModVer: 8.0.50727.4053 Offset: 005ac31
Will work if joining one ODBC database and an Excel 2003 spreadsheet.
    Thank you for your help.

I would check with DB2 and their ODBC driver to see if they support your platform and if any patches are available.
I assume when you installed you did so as a local PC administrator correct?
You could try doing a Repair Install, make sure your Anti-virus software is disabled also, disconnect yourself from your network before doing so first.
    Also, try this link:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=200B2FD9-AE1A-4A14-984D-389C36F85647&displaylang=en
It updates the C++ runtime files.
    Thanks again

  • Happens trying to open an existing report, although the report will open on any other workstation. Also happens when trying to create a blank report. System is XP Pro, SP2; 2 GB of RAM, over 100 GB disk space.
Had CR 8.5 also installed. Uninstalled both CR version and reinstalled 10, same issue. I was thinking doing a complete unsintall might help, but I can no longer find the article titled, 'how to manually uninstall crystal reports 8 or 8.5', which I have used before so I know it existed at one point.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi All,
Check the System Event logs to see if if shows any details on some other dll other than crw32.exe.
Also, with the current updates to Windows it's possible that DEP is causing the by denying CR to access either registry keys or dependencies we require. May even be Anti-virus or firewall settings. CRW will try to contact home looking for updates etc.
Download Process Monitor from www.sysinternals.com and filter on crw32.exe and see if catches any access denied or other denials to system files or registry keys.
Also, this should not be an issue having 2 version of CR installed. I had 8.5 to CR XI R2 all on the same PC and it all worked. Other than the odd 'Font In use error' I had no problems.
    Thank you
    Don

  • I am getting the Windows error &#39;crw32.exe has encountered problems&#39; when opening a report that I just created in Crystal Reports XI hitting an Oracle db. Windows shuts down CR. This has happened to me a twice today. My only recourse is to start the report over from scratch. The report isn&#39;t particularly complicated - 4 groups with summaries and a GIF logo in the header. Any suggestions or questions for more information would be appreciated. This is very frustrating.

Ive had some suggestions for you to try. Apparently this might be down to a driver issue although it would also help to know if you are running on Windows Vista or on an older version of Windows.Â
If you are using the Microsoft ODBC driver, can you try instead switching and using the Oracle ODBC driver.Â
You can get Oracleâu20AC(tm)s ODBC drivers here:Â http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odbc/index.html
Can you see if that helps ?

  • I get this message when trying to open muse. It happened after an upgrade.
'Adobe Muse.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'
Is there anything I can do?

Please send me ([email protected]) the MuseLog.txt file from your Documents folder.
Then please delete the 'MBLStore' and 'OOBE' folders found in
    on Mac: <yourusername>/Library/Application Support/Adobe
on Windows XP: <youruser>Local SettingsApplication DataAdobe
    on Windows 7: <youruser>AppDataLocalAdobe
and delete the 'AdobeMuse' folder found in
    on Mac: <yourusername>/Library/Preferences
    on Windows XP: <youruser>Local Settings
    on Windows 7: <youruser>AppDataRoaming
Then launch Muse. It will go through the first launch experience of asking for UI language, AdobeID, etc.
Please let me know whether or not that works. Thanks.
